Our goal: to show how the vibrant colors and textures of French papers paired with simple, solid-color printing techniques can have a far more dramatic effect than most of the typical CMYK printing on bland white paper used by printers today.
By printing in 2 neutral inks (silver and brown) and letting the paper provide the primary color, we created an economical print run that results in less ink and fewer films and plates. At the same time, the rich, dynamic hues of the paper itself makes the promotion feel sophisticated, tactile, and ironically, look much more expensive than 4-color printing.
