Hatch Show Print, run by archivist and printer extraordinaire Jim Sheridan, is one of the country's oldest, most renowned wood block printers, located in Nashville, Tennessee. They print country western show posters and circus posters (the kind that are slapped up on walls and stapled to barns throughout the South).
We visited Hatch many years ago when they were still relatively unknown. While we were there, we noticed a stack of make-readies piled up in a corner. Their layered art and type created abstract images which we felt were almost more interesting than the posters themselves, so we featured them in this brochure for the Typographers International Association.
